Winter Quarter
From November-March, the reconstructed fort is closed for the season. The Museum and Visitor center are open year-round with reduced winter rates. Admission includes the viewing of WGTE’s Fort Meigs introductory video, access to The Legacy of Freedom, our state-of-the-art War of 1812 Museum, and Lambie’s Playroom.

Regular Hours
From April through October, visitors can take guided* or self-guided tours of the fort and museum. Historical interpreters, dressed in period clothing, are on hand to provide all kinds of historic demonstrations, discuss the history of the fort, and answer any questions. Come discover a part of Ohio history you never knew was here!
*Guided tours are contingent upon staff availability during peak school tour season (April-May). See Guided Tours below.

Daily Guided Tours (April-October)
Interested in a guided tour of the fort? Guided tours are offered daily and included with your admission! Each tour lasts approximately 40 min and is led by one of our knowledgeable historians. The tour includes a brief introduction about the War of 1812, the building and significance of Fort Meigs, the attempted sieges, and the legacy of Fort Meigs as an archeological preserve and final resting place for hundreds of soldiers. The tour takes you to two of the blockhouses. You are then free to explore the rest of the fort on your own.
