Our Staff

ASHLEY PHLIPOT BROCK
Executive Director

Ashley Brock is responsible for overseeing the daily operations of the site. She works closely with the staff, the Fort Meigs Association Board of Directors and the Ohio History Connection to further fulfill the site’s mission.

Background:
  • M.A. in History with Public History Certificate, Bowling Green State University, 2025
  • B.A. Theatre with History Minor, Heidelberg University, 2008
  • Employed at Fort Meigs since January 2014
  • Held Historical Interpreter position at the site from 2008-2009

JOHN THOMPSON
Manager of Programs

John creates and manages our programming and special events. He can also be found in period attire, working with interpretive staff to give musket and cannon demonstrations and interacting with visitors.

  • B.M. Composition, Baldwin-Wallace Conservatory of Music, 2000
  • Employed at Fort Meigs since March 2018

ASHLEY SELL
Museum Store Manager

Ashley Sell runs the Front Desk and the Museum Store. She also handles all rental inquiries as well as all tour bookings. She is a welcoming face for visitors to Fort Meigs.

Background:
  • Attended the University of Toledo with focus on Fine Art
  • Graduated from Orion and is a licensed Massage Therapist through the Ohio State Medical Board
  • Managed family-owned gift shop in Blissfield, Michigan for 10 years
  • Employed at Fort Meigs since March 2017

CORY BALKENBUSCH                                                                                                          Historical Interpreter

Cory works to bring the site to life via guided tours, special programs, and demonstrations while dressed in historic attire. When not working with visitors, he also assists in research, event planning, and maintenance projects. 

Background:
  • M. A. in History with Concentration in Digital History, Ball State University 2023
  • B.S. in History with Concentration in Public History, Ball State University 2021
  • Employed at Fort Meigs since May 2024

BOBBY KOBOLD                                                                                                                Maintenance Supervisor

Bobby protects the past while maintaining the present. He cares for all 70 acres of the property as well as all of our buildings and maintenance needs.
